The International Relations office (SRI) at UFRN announces the opening of the 2026 call for the Magalhães Program, an initiative by the Ibero-American University Association for Postgraduate Studies (AUIP). The program aims to promote academic exchange and scientific cooperation among member institutions, facilitating the creation of a true "Ibero-American Higher Education Area."
Eligibility: Who Can Apply?
The program is comprehensive and focused on strengthening the internationalization of our academic community. The following individuals are eligible to apply:
Professors and researchers affiliated with UFRN.
Graduate students (Master’s and Doctoral levels).
Managers of graduate programs or internationalization-related activities.
Note: It is mandatory that the application be directly related to graduate studies in any field of knowledge.
Benefits and Financial Support
The grants are exclusively intended to cover international travel expenses, subject to the following limits:
Travel between Ibero-American countries: Up to €1,200. AUIP will issue the ticket directly through its travel agency.
Travel between Spain and Portugal: Up to €800, reimbursed upon presentation of receipts.
Stays abroad must have a minimum duration of 20 consecutive days and a maximum of 11 months.
Application Deadlines (2026 Call)
The selection process is divided into two main periods:
Applications until Nov 10, 2025: For mobility between Feb 01, 2026, and June 30, 2026.
Applications until April 20, 2026: For mobility between July 01, 2026, and Nov 30, 2026.

The process is entirely digital via the AUIP application portal (http://solicitudes.auip.org).
Candidates must attach the following documents in PDF format (maximum 2 MB):
Copy of passport.
Abridged Curriculum Vitae (maximum 5 pages).
Endorsement Letter from UFRN (Home University) signed by the Rector or Vice-Rector.
Acceptance Letter from the Host University.
Sworn declaration stating no other funding has been received for the same purpose.
Detailed Activity Plan signed by the tutor at the host institution.
Selection Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated by a committee based on:
Candidate’s CV (20%)
Impact of the proposal (20%)
Strategic internationalization interests (20%)
Alignment with the 2030 Agenda/SDGs (10%)
