UFRN’s ÁGORA Institute Opens Registrations for Portuguese for Foreigners Course (202

The ÁGORA Institute at UFRN has opened registrations for its in-person Portuguese for Foreigners course for the second semester of 2026. The program focuses on developing reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills while introducing students to Brazilian culture. 

Target Public

Foreign undergraduate or graduate students at UFRN.  General external public holding a valid Brazilian visa (tourist visas are not accepted). 

Class Schedules & Levels

A total of 20 seats are available for Portuguese Applicants with prior knowledge can take a Level Placement Exam to access higher levels: 

Portuguese 1: Tuesdays & Thursdays | 2:55 pm – 4:35 pm 

Portuguese 2: Tuesdays & Thursdays | 4:40 pm – 6:20 pm

Portuguese 3: Tuesdays & Thursdays | 1:00 pm – 2:40 pm

Portuguese 4: Mondays & Wednesdays | 2:55 pm – 4:35 pm  

Key Dates

• Application Period: July 20 (8:00 am) to July 24 (11:00 pm), 2026.  


• Payment Receipt Deadline: July 29, 2026. 


• Level Placement Exam: August 4, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm (Auditoriums 1 & 2 at ÁGORA).  Academic Semester: August 10 to December 19, 2026.  


• Investment & Fee WaiversGeneral Fee: R$ 350.00 per semester (non-refundable).  


• Fee Waiver: International exchange students from UFRN’s partner universities are exempt from the fee and should contact the International Relations Office (SRI) for coordination. 

How to Apply (Step-by-Step)

1. Submit Application: Access the registration link and choose section “Inscrição Ágora - Português para Estrangeiros - Natal - Turma 1-35T34”.  

2. Fill out the Questionnaire: Complete the mandatory profile form. If you wish to take the Placement Exam, select that option within this questionnaire.  

3. Pay the Fee: Pay the generated slip (GRU) exclusively at Banco do Brasil and email the receipt to agoracomprovante@gmail.com by July 29.  

4. Upload Documents: Upload digital copies of your CPF, Passport (photo page), Valid Visa, and Local Proof of Residence via this Google Form.  

Important Information

Medium of Instruction: All classes are conducted entirely in Portuguese from day one.  

Requirements: A minimum of 75% attendance and a final grade of 7.00/10.00 are required to pass and receive a course completion statement.  

Health Regulation: Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory to attend classes.
